Indochine Counsel Welcomes Back Foreign Associate Steven Jacob

After a four year absence, Steve Jacob has returned to Indochine Counsel. After his graduation from law school at Santa Clara University School of Law, and his certification as an attorney in California, Steven Jacob joined Indochine Counsel as a Foreign Consultant. He worked with Dang The Duc as a corporate and commercial attorney, handling cases ranging from international trade matters to incorporation and M&A. After a year with Indochine Counsel, he transferred to Cambodia where he worked with the boutique law firm Bun & Associates.

At Bun & Associates he continued his work as a corporate and commercial attorney, assisting the partner in charge with banking and financing matters, dealing with hotel management agreements and M&A deals. In 2011 he moved to Laos where he worked as in-house counsel for Sanum Investments Limited.

At Sanum Investments Steve worked on all manner of matters from labor issues to M&A to investment fund setup. He was responsible for legal work in both Laos and Cambodia and assisted in the legal operations for the company’s investments. Steve speaks conversational, if not better, Vietnamese and is familiar with Vietnamese customs and culture. As a history undergraduate, he has also spent a good deal of time studying the history of Vietnam and the surrounding region and understands how that history affects the way Vietnamese do business today.

Steve will be responsible for corporate and commercial matters, banking & finance, M&A and cross border transactions, as well as assisting managing partner Dang The Duc in dealing with important cases as they arise. Working with Indochine Counsel Steve returns to a law firm that is pleased to see his renewed cooperation and efforts in serving international and local clients and it is hoped that he will be able to make a considerable contribution to Indochine Counsel’s practice.
