Introduction
Corporate governance has become a vital topic all around the world, especially due to the extreme impact of the Covid-19 Pandemic during the past two years. It’s increased visibility is also due to the increased commitment of corporations to ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) matters.
In 2019 the State Securities Commission for the first time issued a Vietnam Corporate Governance Code of Best Practices for Public Companies that provides guidelines and recommendations on corporate governance in an effort to enhance corporate management and attract investors into Vietnam. In addition, the legal framework on corporate governance has witnessed a significant change with the promulgation of the new 2020 Enterprise Law, the 2019 Securities Law and their guiding regulations.
