Indochine Counsel recently participated in the Executive Networking Workshop, “Doing Business with China – Why & Why Now?” hosted by The representative office of Hong Kong University in Vietnam in Ho Chi Minh City.
Representing the firm, Managing Partner Dang The Duc joined business leaders, executives and industry professionals for a discussion on China’s economic transformation and the implications of these developments for Vietnam and the wider region.
For many years, China has been viewed principally as the world’s manufacturing base. Today, however, its position in the global economy is increasingly shaped by developments in artificial intelligence, electric vehicles, green energy, semiconductors, advanced manufacturing and technology-led innovation.
The workshop offered a timely opportunity to look beyond familiar assumptions and consider how China’s continued shift from “Made in China” to “Created in China” is influencing industrial policy, supply chains, investment flows and cross-border business strategies.
These developments are particularly relevant to Indochine Counsel’s work. The Firm has supported a number of Chinese clients and China-invested businesses in connection with their activities in Vietnam, while continuing to follow the evolving dynamics of the China market and its relationship with the Vietnamese economy.
As businesses across the region assess new investment, partnership and expansion opportunities, a well-grounded understanding of China’s policy environment, technological development and commercial priorities remains increasingly important.
