Indochine Counsel is honoured to announce that our IP & TMT team will attend the 79th Council Meeting of the Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA), taking place in Hong Kong from 29 November to 2 December 2026.
The APAA Council Meeting is a major regional gathering for intellectual property professionals, bringing together practitioners and representatives from across Asia and beyond to exchange knowledge, discuss developments in intellectual property, and strengthen professional connections within the IP community.
A Regional Forum for Emerging IP Issues
The 2026 programme will cover a broad range of activities, including Standing Committee Meetings, academic sessions, networking meetings, workshops and roundtable discussions. The Standing Committee Meetings will provide updates on IP developments across the region, covering areas including patents, anti-counterfeiting, copyright, designs, emerging IP and trademarks.
A key feature of this year’s programme is the academic programme on 2 December 2026, which will explore several issues at the forefront of the IP landscape.
The programme includes an IP Arbitration Workshop, titled “IP Arbitration: The 21st Century Tool for IP Dispute Resolution” with a focus on practical considerations throughout the arbitration and enforcement process.
Four focused roundtables will also address emerging and commercially relevant IP issues:
- Intellectual Property Financing and Monetization Strategies – exploring the potential of IP as a financing asset and collateral;
- Emerging Convergence of AI and Intellectual Property – examining how artificial intelligence is challenging existing approaches to IP protection;
- Cross-Border Trade Secret Misappropriation and Enforcement Challenges – addressing jurisdictional issues in the protection and enforcement of trade secrets; and
- Online Brand Protection and Enforcement Strategies – considering the challenges of protecting brands in an increasingly digital and borderless environment.
Beyond the academic programme, APAA 2026 will also provide extensive opportunities for professional networking. The programme includes dedicated networking meetings, a welcome reception, cultural activities and a gala dinner, creating opportunities for participants to connect with IP professionals from different jurisdictions and exchange experiences.
Meet Our IP & TMT Team
Against this regional backdrop, our IP & TMT team, including Ms. Thai Gia Han – Senior Associate | Head of IP & TMT Practice Group and Mr. Nguyen Trung Nghia – Junior Associate will be attending APAA 2026 to connect with fellow practitioners, exchange perspectives and gain a broader understanding of the developments shaping IP practice across Asia.
The event also provides an opportunity for our team to share perspectives on the Vietnamese IP and technology landscape, particularly as businesses increasingly operate across jurisdictions and face evolving considerations around IP protection, enforcement, technology and digital business.
