Indochine Counsel Supports AMS 2026 on Chain Disputes in Arbitration

Ho Chi Minh City, 06 April 2026

Indochine Counsel was pleased to support the National Science Forum | Arbitration – Mediation Symposium 2026 (AMS 2026) as a sponsor and honoured guest.

The forum, titled “Arbitral Proceedings Management in Chain Disputes” was co-organised by the Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (VIAC), Hanoi Law University (HLU), and Ho Chi Minh City University of Law (ULAW). The event was held in a hybrid format with parallel venues at Hanoi Law University in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City University of Law in Ho Chi Minh City.

AMS 2026 formed part of the broader Arbitration – Mediation Symposium series, which serves as an academic and professional platform for dialogue between researchers, arbitration practitioners, lawyers, and institutions involved in dispute resolution. According to VIAC, the forum aimed to examine approaches to managing chain disputes in arbitration, identify limitations in the current legal framework, and contribute to discussions on the future development of arbitration law and practice in Vietnam.

Representing Indochine Counsel at the forum were Mr. Pham Viet Tuan, Partner | Head of Litigation & Dispute Resolution, Real Estate & Construction, and Mr. Pham Dac Hoang, Junior Associate. Their participation reflected the firm’s continued engagement with Vietnam’s arbitration and alternative dispute resolution community.

The topic of chain disputes is particularly relevant in complex commercial relationships, where disputes rarely remain confined to a single contract. A breach in one agreement may trigger related claims, involve multiple parties, and create pressure across connected transactions, payment obligations, project timelines, supply arrangements, or cross-border business relationships.

As businesses in Vietnam increasingly operate within multi-party, multi-contract, and cross-border structures, arbitration and mediation continue to play an important role in helping parties manage risk, preserve commercial relationships, and resolve disputes efficiently. For law firms advising on commercial disputes, the ability to assess procedural strategy, contractual linkages, leverage, and enforcement considerations at an early stage is increasingly important.

As a sponsor of AMS 2026, Indochine Counsel is pleased to support professional dialogue on the continued development of arbitration and mediation in Vietnam. This reflects the commitment of our Litigation & Dispute Resolution team to contributing practical perspectives on complex commercial disputes and the role of ADR in helping businesses manage risk more effectively.

We would like to thank VIAC, Hanoi Law University, and Ho Chi Minh City University of Law for organising a meaningful forum and creating a valuable platform for academic and professional exchange on the future of arbitration and mediation in Vietnam.
