On 7 November 2025, the team at Indochine Counsel attended the Annual Internal Audit Conference 2025, organized by the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA Vietnam) under the theme “Internal Audit in Vietnam: Vision to 2035.”

The conference brought together over 400 representatives from corporations, financial institutions, and government agencies to discuss the evolving role of internal audit in enhancing corporate governance, strengthening risk management, and advancing sustainable business practices in Vietnam.

Joining the conference were representatives from Indochine Counsel including:

  • Mr. Dang The Duc – Managing Partner
  • Mr. Dang Hoan My – Partner | Co-Head of Corporate and M&A, Projects & Infrastructure
  • Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Duong – Senior Associate | Head of Taxation
  • Ms. Nguyen Khanh Thanh Vi – Head of Marketing & Business Development

The general session explored how data-driven auditing is reshaping internal audit functions enhancing transparency, accuracy, and strategic decision-making. Break-out discussions further addressed the integration of ESG principles into audit and compliance frameworks, underscoring the growing importance of sustainability and accountability in modern governance.

A key highlight of the conference was the official launch of three professional publications by IIA Vietnam, including:

  • Survey Report on Internal Audit to 2035
  • Risk Survey Report 2025
  • Audit Committee Handbook

These publications aim to advance Vietnam’s internal audit framework and align local practices with international standards.

For Indochine Counsel, the event offered valuable perspectives on how enhanced audit practices intersect with our advisory focus on governance, compliance, and risk management. These insights highlight the intrinsic link between effective legal advisory services and robust internal control systems, two critical pillars in building transparent, accountable, and resilient businesses in Vietnam.

As Vietnam’s corporate governance landscape continues to evolve, the integration of data-driven auditing, ESG alignment, and proactive risk management has become essential. Businesses must adapt to these developments to strengthen transparency, uphold compliance, and sustain stakeholder trust in an increasingly complex regulatory environment.
